THE FOLLOW UP

The world may not have been ready to

listen then, but it may be ready do so now...

Ten years ago, I left the newsroom and embarked on a solo mission to singlehandedly document, produce and share the stories that the media didn't care about. I worked tirelessly to reach as many communities as I possibly could with the little I had. My resources were limited and eventually ran out. I crashed, but my mission is far from over...

The VOICES I captured did, and DO matter!

TWO RECENT EXAMPLES

The Amazon is burning - everyone is talking about that now, yet few people realize is that it's been burning since the 1950s. I, quite possibly with you support, tried to get that message out - nearly a decade ago.

A few days ago, I received an email from a well-funded and established Canadian television network asking for my footage of the critical event and moment that triggered a movement that would later alter the course of awareness and empowerment for First Nations and indigenous peoples in Canada.

Ask yourself why, where were they then, where was the media?

Thinking Globally: It's about time...

Thanks largely to the Internet and the countless ways in which our global community is now able to connect, there has been a significant and obvious shift in the issues that matter to people. Unlike a decade ago, when the stories, voices and the headed warnings of indigenous, remote and often threatened communities were considered "irrelevant" to both the media and urban societies, there is a growing thirst for wisdom now...

It's obvious, because our planet is in serious trouble.

As more and more people are forced to wear face masks in the increasingly polluted cities around the world, to worry about water shortages and the illnesses caused by chemicals and contaminated foods, the rapidly depleting health of our lands and oceans, and the overall neglect and devastation of all things natural - it's time to rethink the present-day/modern trajectory...

"We are drowning in information,

  while starving for wisdom"

Survival in the "Modern" World

"2009 was the year that changed the trajectory of my professional, and personal, life... It was a decade ago, that I embarked on my first solo journey as an independent video journalist seeking to raise awareness of the communities the media didn't care about."
